What should actually happen is that Clay Bennett should give the Sonics back to Seattle, buy the Grizzlies (who are for sale) and move them to Oklahoma City.

No one would complain about Memphis losing the Grizzlies. They've been there for about 20 minutes and have no fanbase to speak of. Unlike Seattle, which has only been one of the league's best markets for the past 41 years.

Yup. Announced w/in the last couple weeks. I wish I liked the Blackhawks more, so I could be excited about the news.

You're required to hate them.

I would tell you to stick to talking about stuff you have a clue about, only I'm not sure if you'd be able to post anymore.

If you're going by the lack of Stanley Cups won during a tirthy year timespan, then you MUST put the St. Louis Blues at the very top of the worst NHL franchise list. The Bruins made the finals as recently as 77-78. The Blues haven't made it since 1970. And then they were the best of the worst.

Well, if you're going to go by the lack of Stanley Cups over a thirty year span, the Blues are tied for worst with a number of teams.

Not that it's been brought up, but they also have a couple of division titles this decade...

I think this is about the worst-run franchises/teams with the worst owners. Not which franchises suck the most. And it's not as if this is the first time Jacobs has shown up on a list like this...

http://espn.go.com/page2/s/2001/0710/1224543.html

Quote:
1. Jeremy Jacobs -- Boston Bruins (214 letters)
This Buffalo sheep in Boston clothing has destroyed Hockeytown, USA. How do you explain a team in the nation's sixth largest media market being in the bottom third payroll bracket? His bottom line explains it.

Now this bozo sees that attendance is slipping and what does he do? He signs Martin Lapointe to a ridiculous amount to appease the fans then Whamo! ... Bill Geurin or Jason Allison (or both) will be gone. But hey, they're one of the most profitable teams in the league, so who cares? Jacobs always spends just enough to tease us into believing we have a chance (a slight one at that), he fills the arena, milks fans with his concessions and deposits it all in Buffalo Savings and Loan.

The latest sign of the apocalypse is now this shark has put his name on the bidding list for our beloved Red Sox. Nothing would please me more than to be locked in a room with this wimp for a mere 30 seconds.
Nick Middleton
Boston

Twenty-eight years of penny pinching with the Bruins and what does Boston have to show for it? Cheering on Ray Bourque in a Colorado jersey and celebrating when he wins the Cup in Denver. That's what Jacobs has reduced us to.

Memo to Harry Sinden: Don't get mad at the Boston fans for cheering on Bourque, get mad at Jacobs for never committing to a winner. You reap what you sow, Harry....

I think 210 might be the first Bruins fan I've ever seen defend Jeremy Jacobs.

If you think that's what I'm doing then you're an fucking idiot.

I said they weren't the worst franchise in the NHL--that's a far cry from defending Jacobs.

No shit, but the Blues did not have a history of being good, and then not being good, after being taken over by a particular owner who shall be nameless.

Not surprised at this list in the least, or at least with the #1 pick.

(cue's J.S.'s broken record rant about the suckos)

poor drafting, refusal to spend on talent but overpaying for washed up "talent", wearing out several pitchers taken in the first round over the last ten years (read: poor mechanics means shoulder surgery in 2-3 yrs), trading talent for prospects and never-weres, coaching carousel, and taking a chance on headcase players who eventually walk.

But not to worry, the fans will continue to somehow end up at the ballpark thanks to subpar concerts, fireworks shows, and the big one....bobbleheads for everybody!!!

Yes, the Pirates are 3 games under .500 as of this posting, but give it time. This team is built to fail. :(
